IF ANIMALS KISSED GOOD NIGHT by Ann Whitford Paul

Looking for the perfect bedtime story?  Look no further!  If Animals Kissed Good Night is a sweet, cuddly book describing how different animals would kiss their young good night.  “Seal and his calf would blow big bubbled kisses that rise to the surface in splashity splishes.”  It’s also a great story to kick off a discussion of different animals’ characteristics, such as elephants' trunks and giraffes' long necks.  The rhyming text and adorable illustrations make it a wonderful way to let your little one know how much you love them.  It can be found in the Easy section of the library under E PAU.

CAN'T SLEEP WITHOUT SHEEP by Susanna Leonard Hill

Do you have to count sheep to get to sleep?  What would happen if the sheep went on strike?  That's what happens in this comical bedtime story.  The sheep are tired, too, so they look for a replacement to help Ava get to sleep.  Horses are too beautiful, chickens can't get off the ground, pigs are too lazy.  There are problems with every animal that tries.  When Ava tells the sheep how much they're needed, they get back to work, and she finally gets back to sleep.  A little appreciation can be a lot of motivation!  Can't Sleep Without Sheep can by found in the Easy section under E HIL.

WAG! by Patrick McDonnell

What makes Earl's tail wag?  We know when it wags.  It wags for his food, his friends, his ball, his owner, belly rubs, et cetera .  But what makes it wag?  What do all these things have in common?  Mooch thinks he knows, but he can't quite express it.  Patrick McDonnell, creator of the comic strip Mutts, uses the same comical duo to show that LOVE is the answer and the secret to life's joy.  wag! can be found in the Easy section of the library under E MCD.
